Hello from Cape Verde,
Here is the last info about the 2008 blue marlin season, out of the best grounds in the Atlantic ocean for blue marlin. Our score is 228 blue marlin, and more than 30 yellow fin tuna. We caught more than 60 blues over 500 lbs, which is fantastic. The biggest blue this year was an estimated 950lbs. The biggest yellow fin tuna was 220 lbs. There were lots of fish in the 400 to 450 ranges.

In other places of the world, the news are just about big ones and big ones, good for them, in the Cape Verde’s we have a selection of fish to chose from. You can select what you want, do bait and switch with our professional mates, and catch a fish with the right lines. Just a few boats are fishing out of Sao Vicente Island. All boats this year landed more than 120 blues each. I think around 700 blues was caught by this small fleet of sport fishing boats. There is no other place in the world with such score. So, Amelia come out again as the best boat in the Cape Verde’s, and one of the best boats in the world. Thanks to Xi and Marty Bates.

Martin will run the Amelia next year for a while, and Zak the new boat; yes, we are getting an additional boat soon. If you want to come down to us in 2009, its better to book very soon. Amelia has only two available weeks left for next year. The two boats have different rates. Contact me for further info. The Amelia will be issued with at brand new 420hp caterpillar engine, and will get a new paint job on the hull. She will surely be sweet and neat next year. Any questions about how to come to the Cape Verde please email me, and I will get you all info necessary.

We already have bookings for 2010. So if you want to be sure to get some fishing in the best period, it might be wise to book now. We have the rates for 2010, email for prices.

Hope to see you next year or some time in the future.

Best regards to all.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde’s.
A few days we finished fishing with our good friends from Denmark. The fishing was not the best but not the worst either. We landed 4 yellow fin tuna and one blue marlin out of 3 strikes, and one more blue just come up to have a look at our lures. Fantastic weather, but the marlin was not around in numbers; the one we caught was a good 550lbs caught on the Wide Range. The tunas ranged from the smallest one around 100lbs to the biggest one around 200lbs. At the end of this season, our score for blues is 228.

I will soon come back with some details about the 2008 season, as it has been the best so far in my career. From small fish to big ones, it has been fantastic. Still, for me we have the best fishing in the world for Atlantic blue marlin, both in number and sizes. The 1241lbs caught 3 years ago on the Happy Hooker with Captain Berno just proves it. This giant was not alone, especially around the Cape Verde’s!

Best regards to all.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
The fish are back in small numbers. Yesterday we finished five days fishing with our friends from Denmark. The results: 6 bites from blue marlin, one caught. One strike from sail fish, but pulled the hooks. Caught three yellow fins and pulled the hooks on another two. Sizes: 140lbs, 100lbs and a70lbs. No luck on marlin, some bites but the hook-up was bad (that’s fishing).

Tomorrow we maybe go out with our friend and second mate Marco. We would like to find the marlins and be prepared when Thomas Petersen arrives in the 30th. The only thing is the weather. It’s likely to be very wind, but we will see. I hope it will be good fishing. It looks like there is more blues around now, and the yellow fin tuna is starting biting again.

We still have some days available for next year in March and July.

Best regards to all.

Hello to all from Cape Verde,
The fishing right now is very slow. Two days ago was the last day fishing with our friends from Denmark.
It was a slow week, with just one sailfish out of 5 bites. One bite from a blue around 800lbs; here we pulled the hooks after 35 minutes off fighting. Also we pulled the hooks on one yellow fin.

Yesterday was the first day for a new group also from Denmark, and another blank day for Amelia; just one bite from a yellow fin and we pulled the hooks. Today I stay at shore. Captain Simon Braced took Amelia for the day, and he called me around 12 o’clock, and the score was 1 for two on blues. The fish was around 350lbs. It was nice to hear that. There is some fish at Sao Pedro.

Thanks to Rudy for the lures. They will be in the water very soon. Amelia still has vacant days next year in July. Contact me to get some of that dates. There are also vacancies in March. These days can be booked through Getaways Tours.

Best regards to all, and good fishing for the ones fishing around the world.

Thank you guys; hope to see you down here at the Cape Verde again.

Today was first day with other friends from Denmark. No luck, not a single fish today for Amelia. Our score is now 225 blues for the season.

Best regards to all.

Also we lost other blue around 850 plus, but the hook just came out on the first run. The yellow fins sizes: 210, 190 and a 160lbs. Nice steaks to us, with a nice bottle of white wine.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands.
This is the report from the last 4 days of fishing. At the moment there is not many fish around. We finished five days fishing with a score of six strikes from blues, but just caught two; a 750 and a 450lbs.
Four days ago we fished at the Sao Pedro bank. In the morning we had a bite from a nice 450-500 lbs, but the hooks just pulled out. At three a o’clock we had a nice bite on the left, that turned out to be a solid 750lbs blue caught on the Andromeda from Legend Lures.

Three days ago we went to the bank at Santo Antao. There were lots of wahoo’s around but no marlin.
On the way home we pulled the hooks on a blue, and late that afternoon on the way to Sao Vicente, we caught a nice 450 lbs, again on the Andromeda.

Yesterday, we pulled the hooks on two sailfish, and also pulled the hooks on a yellow fin, but we did finish the day with a 200lbs yellow fin tuna.

Today, the last day with Len and Fred we pull the hooks on a sailfish and a blue. Tomorrow we start with our friends from Denmark.

There are still available days in June and April next year, book now.

Best regards to all.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde
Here is the latest report, about the last three days fishing. Three days ago we had two bites from yellow fin tuna, one we lost at the side of the boat, a solid 200 lbs plus, and the second one weighing 50 kg. Yesterday was the last day with Roger and Ray. I that was a very slow day with just one dorado around 40lbs landed. But still the days before were good. They ended up after 8 days fishing with 6 blues, one yellow fin and one dorado. That’s ok by any standard. They will be back next year. Thanks to Roger and Ray.

Today was the first day with Len and his brother from England. We had just one bite from a small fish.
Tomorrow we will move to Santo Antao island in search of some better fishing.

Best regards to all.

28.07.08

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands,
Here is a report from the last days. Two days ago we had one strike from a small billfish. That was four days of pulling the hooks in all fish! Things must change soon; yes they changed two days ago, four bites four fish caught Amelia is back in action! A nice 450 blue and three others around 300, 230 and one off smallest blue I have a seen in my live: a 120lbs!  Two fish caught on the Andromeda from Legend Lures, one on Medium Plunger from Dustin Foo and one on the Molcraft (Wide Range). Big smiles all around the boat again and a few beers.

Today, back at the Sao Pedro bank, We started again pulling the hooks on a small blue. After that we had three fish on the gear, two of this fish did bite: one caught and one pulled the hooks. A 300 lbs caught on the Andromeda from Legend Lures. Around 3 o’clock we had a bite and Xi (our first mate) said it was a tuna bite. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes, it was a tuna. Xi gets the lure in to check the hooks (all good) and he has just put the lure back, when a fish bites. No one saw the fish (tuna, marlin?). No jumps, went down for a while. Few minutes passes and the line gets in a angle that tunas don’t do. Marlin? Yes a nice 700 lbs blue gives a good fight to Roger. That was our day, not bad. There is fish around Sao Pedro now, and we hope they will stay around. At the moment the weather is a dream; no wind and flat seas. Hope to see some of you around these waters next year. We still have some days left for next year.

Best regards to all.
Captain Zak Conde

25.07.08

Hello to all from the Cape Verde,
This is the info about the last three days of fishing. Our friends Roger Gates and Ray from England did start on their right feet. The first day we pulled the hooks on two nice fish; a 400 and another one around 500lbs.

That was our first day at Sao Pedro bank; from there we moved to Santo Antao and went to the bank, 45 nm from Mindelo harbour. First day on the bank was a chaos. 0 for 4 on blues right in the morning. One I think well over 500, the other two around 400 to 450 and a small one 200lbs.

That was the second day fishing. Yesterday we went back to the bank and back to Mindelo for refuelling and food for the weekend. That was a zero day. 0 for 2 on blues at the bank, two fish around 250 to 300 lbs. Well it’s been difficult so far, but we will see if we can improve today.

Best regards to all.
Captain Zak Conde

21.07.08

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands.
Here is the info from the last two days with Guy, Eryn and John. On the 18th nothing, the 19th we had three bites but no luck. The fish doesn’t eat the bait. At the end of this trip, we can say it was positive. No records but good fun. The fishing was not the best, but we had a very good chance to get a record four times. That’s the game; it is difficult to get those big ones on light tackle, but its good fun trying.
Guy and family will be back next year, they believe this is the place, and I can say they are right.

Best regards to all.

17.07.08

Hello to all from the Cape Verde,
Here is some news from the last two days of fishing. Today we take a break.
Two days ago we had hooked a 450 lbs blue on 8 lbs line, but again no luck. We had the leader but the fish got away. It was a good fight that lasted one hour and 45 minutes.

Yesterday was a blank. Tomorrow we would like to go to the bank out of Santo Antao Island, if the weather is good.

We still have some days available in the prime time next year, so book now.

Best regards to all.
Captain Zak Conde

15.07.08

Hello to all from the Cape Verde,
Here is a report from the last three days fishing. We still haven’t any luck with the light tackle. Three days ago we raised a small blue that switched to the bait. Two days ago we run to the bank at Santo Antao. Lots of life, and the tuna birds looks very good. First pass on the bank and we raised one that did come to our lures. After that we had a small blue on the teaser. We saw it was a very small one, and the 6 pound line tackle goes in the water and? - A nice 450 just jump on that bait. That was a fish for the 8 pound line, o well, to bad! We almost had the leader on this one. After 3 and half hours the line breaks. To bad...

Yesterday, we run to the north of Sao Vicente, and we raised 3 or 4 fish. Saw another one on the surface. Just one of this fish switched to the bait with no luck. The fish didn’t get hooked. There is plenty fish around and we go for them again today. Good luck to Eryn and the team.

Best regards to all.

12.07.08

Hello to All from the Cape Verde islands,
Here is some news from the last days fishing with Paul and friends, and from the first 5 days with Guy, Eryn and John B. from New Zealand.

The last day with Paul, I stayed at the harbour, and Capt. Marty went fishing instead. They caught a 300 lbs blue and a 170lbs yellow fin tuna. Very good! Also they lost a big blue, say Marty. We think the fish was a real big one (over 850lbs). Paul and friends went home with 14 blues, three yellow fins, and a couple wahoos. They say they will be back, and they will be very welcome if they do. Thanks to Paul and his friends.

Guy, Eryn and John from New Zealand started 5 days ago the battle, to get some world records on light tackle. The first day we had one on, on the 6lbs line, but no luck; we broke the line; after this one, one more bite but the bait just came out. He raised 6 blues that switched to our baits. Second day: no luck.
Yesterday was supposed to be the lucky third day, but the day was a big zero. We had hooked a solid 700lbs blue on 8lbs, Marty had the leader, but the hook just came out just under the boat. Late afternoon we have another one on: a 200 to 250 lbs on the 6lbs, and again we have the leader, but this time? Well - the fish was the winner and is swimming free. Today we raised a small one the switch.
Our score on the moment is 214 blues for the season. We have another couple days with our friends from the other side of the world. I really believe we will get one of these fish for Erin (guy’s wife). She’s been doing an excellent job trying to catch them on light tackle.

Best regards to all.
Captain Zak Conde

07.07.08

Hello from Cape Verde,
Here is the info about the last days fishing. The 3rd and the 4th we fished with Guy Eryn and John from New Zealand. The first day we sought for a good place to fish the World Cup on the 4 th. We pulled the hook on one small blue on the south in morning. Later that day we checked the north side of the island. Here we pulled the hook on a blue around 400 lbs.

Fourth of July, we started on the north side, but changed to the south when Bebiche hooked up in two blues down at the Sao Pedro bank. We caught three blues out of nine bites during the World Cup. Two fish around the 400 lbs mark, caught on the Krakatoa from Legend Lures, and a small one on the Andromeda also from Legend Lures. We pulled the hooks on one around 600 lbs, at that time there was one fish caught around that size at the Madeira island. In any case, in the end it was too small. Better luck next year. We had the fish but not the size on this day.

Paul and friends are still fishing. Today is their last day on board the Amelia. In the last 9 days fishing we caught nine fish around 250 to 500lbs. Three of this fish was caught on the Medium Plunger from Joe Yee and one on the Krakatoa from Legend Lures. Two other fish was caught on Abaco Prowler from Bart Lures and the rest was caught on Black and Red Wide Range from Molcraft Lures. Also we landed two yellow fins; one 190 and one 170 lbs one caught on the Arpp from Bart Lures, and one on the Izuri. They caught so far 14 blues, two yellow fins and a couple wahoos.

Guy will start fishing tomorrow and will fish until the 19th.

We just tried fishing with 2, 6, 8 & 16 pound lines. Two days ago they have one around 150lbs on the 6 lbs line. They broke the line after three and half hours fight. We will see if we can break a record during the next days. Fishing is still good. One of the local boats landed a big one yesterday (925 lbs, nice fish!).

We still have some weeks left for next year, please book now.

Best regards to all.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde,

Hello to all from Cape Verde,
Yesterday was our last day fishing with Karl and Jens from Germany. They fished 6 days, and caught seven blues. Not the best in the world, but also not that bad. The last four fish up to 500lbs, was caught on Andromeda, a 450 on Dracula from Bonze Lures, a 250 and a 200 lbs on the Hooker, and a 250 lbs on the Wide Range. Andromeda is surely one of the best lures for us, and we just got one left! Roddy will soon send us more.

Today was the first day with Chris and Roger from England.  We caught 2 blues out of 9 bites. Not a very good start. Most of this fish are around 200 to 300 lbs. This fish was caught on Bart Miller lures. But the fish are back in numbers now, and we just wait for better weather. The last days, the wind been around 20 knots, and that’s not so good.Tomorrow the weather will be better, so we hope to have better news soon.

The fishing news are not the best. Yesterday was the start of our week with Karl and Jens from Germany. First day: 0 for one - nothing. We fished at Sao Pedro, but no luck. Today we got 1 for 2. We were back at Sao Pedro, and we caught a 275 blue on bait and switch, and pulled the hook on another fish. The fish has moved to deeper water, where it gets a little more difficult to get him. We hope the fishing gets better tomorrow.

It’s the first day to our good friends, Peter Gurd and Harry. Fishing from Sao Pedro, just a few miles from home, we caught 5 blues today out off 11 bites, and raised two more.
We started with bait and switch, but by the middle of the day we chanced and ended with lure fishing.
We landed two fish on bait and three on lures. On bait we caught a 450lbs and a 250lbs. On lure fishing one 300lbs caught on Hooker from Molcraft lures, a 250lbs, on Andromeda and a solid 700lbs on the Andromeda from Legend Lures. Another Andromeda gone, we broke the leather on this 700blue.
I think we lost around three Andromedas on this season.

All the others boats is also doing well. It’s nice to arrive at the marina, and see that all flags are up. Looks like Christmas time.

Best regards to all and good fishing

Hello to all,
This is a update on the last three and a half days. Our first day with Thomas and Klaus from Denmark was the best day so far. 7 blues out of 8 strikes. We also raised another 5 on switch bait. The sizes: 550, 500, 450 400, 400, 350 and a 275lbs. What a day on bait and switch. It is not every day someone gets this average.
The second day: I think we had two blues. The third day 1 blue around 300lbs caught on the Andromeda.
Today was another good day with the marlins. We got 4 blues out off 5 strikes. A 550, a 4oo, a 300 and a 250lbs. One off this fish was caught on the Andromeda and the others on bait and switch. Tomorrow is the last day with Thomas and Klaus.

More to come....

April was a good month for us. We ended with 65 blues; not bad for the first and half month of the season.

Hello to all,
Here is a report about the last three days of fishing. Yesterday 30 April was the last of five fishing days with Roger, Tom and Greg. They caught 27 blues in five days. Where in the world do you have marlin fishing like this? Yesterday, we got 15 strikes and got, and released, just 4; lots of small fish. A 400lb blue caught on Hercules, from Bonze Lures, 350lbs on the Senior Scugger, 300lbs, on the Hooker, and a 175 on the Wide Range.

29 April: We caught 2 blues; a 700lbs on the stand up 50, caught on the Wide Range, and a 350lbs on Hooker. This 700 pound fish did beautiful jumps on the leader.

28 April: On the 28 we caught three blues: 500lbs, caught on Hercules, a 350 on Medium Plunger from Joe Yee, and a 275lbs on Wide Range. Our friends will be back next year for another adventure in the waters of Cape Verde.

Hello to all from Cape Verdes – A day to remember.
25. April. This is the info about our fishing with Neil and John. We caught 5 blues out of 8 strikes: 450lbs, on the Super Scugger, a 400 on the Hercules from Bonze Lures, two 300 lbs on the Wide Range, a 250 lbs on Super Plunger from Bart, and a 500 lbs on the Hooker. Total for their fishing was 13 blue marlins; - not bad for four days fishing. They will be back next year. Thanks to Neil and John.

26. April was the first day for Roger and Tom Bettle. We caught tree blues out off 8 bites:
600lbs caught on the Medium Plunger from Joe Yee, a 550lbs on the Hooker, and 350 on the Hercules from Bonze lures. In all a good start for our boys from England.

27. april. Breaking news! 15 blues caught out off 22 bites. All this fish was caught on lures.
300lbs, 500lbs, 250lbs, 400lbs, 300lbs, 550lbs, 425lbs, 400lbs, 250lbs, 350lbs, 300lbs, 175lbs, 250lbs, 450lbs, 300lbs. Four of this fish was caught on the Hooker from Mold Craft lures, two on the Medium Plunger from Joe Yee, one on the Pakula Lumo Sprocket, three on the Andromeda from Legend Lures, two on the Hercules from Bonze Lures and three on the Mini Chugger from Mold Craft lures.

I think that we probably are the first boat in the world to catch 15 fish in one days fishing on lures. The record is 20 or 21 fish in one single day caught some years a go from the Hooker on bait and switch. Captain at that time was Trevor Cookle. What a day!

Updated: 15 blues during one day makes history for us. Also on that day, we had our first triple header. That week Greg Roskell, Tom Betlle and Rober from England, made a mark in our careers.

Best regards to all and good fishing

Hello from Cape Verde.
We have just arrived back from Santo Antao Island, where we fished for three days.
The first days we fished with Jaap Tuit, on the last two days of his fishing here. We get two blues, one each day. A 250lbs, caught on the Wide Range. The second fish on the last day, was caught on the Hercules from Bonze lures. I all Jaap fished 10 days and caught 13 blues. The hook up ratio is around 60%, so not too bad.

At the moment we have one day left whit our friend’s Neil and John from Scotland. They are fishing 5 days, and tomorrow is the last day, and so far so good. The first day we got 2 blues. A 600lbs caught on Puerto Rico Prowler and a 550lbs on Wide Range. Second day one about 250lbs, caught on Ascension project. Third day another 250lbs caught on the Hercules from Bonze lures.

Today, we got 3 out of six bites, a 600lbs caught on the Andromeda from Legend lures. The second fish a 300lbs on the Super Chuger, and the last one a 250lbs on Abaco Prowler from Bart lures.

The fishing is red hot just outside of Mindelo. If you want to know what marlin fishing is about, book the last week off august and the first on September.

Hello to all from the windy cape verde,
12. April: We caught a 450lbs, 250lbs and a 400lbs blue marlin. The two bigger fish caught on the Puerto Rico Prowler.
13. April: No fish to anybody.
14. April: A good day for Amelia, a 800lbs and a 550lbs. Both fish eat Puerto Rico Prowler.
15. April: We had two bites and caught one blue around 650lbs, the other was a small blue. This fish bite on the Abaco Prowler from Bart lures.
Today; 16. April we fished Sao Pedro but the score was zero. One boat did raise one blue that did bite.
The sea on the moment is not very good, strong currents and the sea colour is not the best.

Hello from cape verde,
Yesterday 10. April; our friend Jaap Tuit from Holland, started his 11 days of blue marlin fishing.
And what a start... 3 fish caught out of 8 bites. We raised 2 more that did bite.
We are fishing out off Sao Pedro, an island of Sao Vicente.
We caught a 450lbs on the Polu Kai, a 300lbs on the Puerto Rico Prowler and a 350lbs on Abaco Prowler. We raised 6 of this fish on our teasers.

Today; 11. April again in Sao Pedro, and another good day. We had four bites and landed two. The first fish was a solid 550lbs caught on the Wide Range. The second fish a good 400lbs on the Puerto Rico Prowler.

In two days we caught 5 blues, not bad. We hope the fish stay around Sao Pedro. The water around Sao Nicolau is still not good (green water). All boats, been getting bites.

Hello from Cape Verde islands,
We have been working on the Amelia, and now Amelia is back in action.

The last three days Niklas and is friend, fished out of Sao Pedro (island of Sao Vicente).

They will be back next year on the same week. The score of this week for these boys was: 19 blue marlins and one spearfish. Hook up success close to 60%.

Hello to all,
The first of April was good but the second even better. As you know, we have been fishing out of Sao Nicolau Island, in flat water with no wind.

The fishing is just great right now. We had ten bites today, but pulled the hooks on five, and landed the other five fish in good condition. First fish a 500 lbs, caught on Hawaii Breakfast, nice jumps, strong fish. The blues around are in top condition and very strong. Second fish, 600 lbs caught on Bonze Hercules. A third 550 lbs was also caught on Hercules from Bonze lures. The fourth fish, a solid 650 lbs, was caught on one of my favourite lures, Wide Range. To finish the day, the smallest of the day, a 250 lbs caught on Puerto Rico Prowler. As you can see, the fishing is really hot. Don’t miss next season, start to book now!

Hello to all from the paradise of fishing!
We are back in action. This morning we left Sao Vicente for Sao Nicolau. On the fishing bank at Raso we had our first bite. A nice 450 lbs caught on a Abaco Prowler lure From Black Bart (Bart Miller). We lost another two bites. We didn ’t stay on the bank for long, as we wanted to get on the south bank, on lead of Sao Nicolau. The weather was nice with flat water, and lots of fish in the south. We just arrived on the south bank when a nice solid 600 lbs gets stuck on our hooks. Again it was caught on an Abaco Prowler lure From Black Bart. The third fish, a 400 pounder, got stuck on a Puerto Rico Prowler. Before the fourth fish was safely wired a further two was lost. The fourth weighed around 250 lbs and took a Bonze BTK – one of our best lures. The total ended up at 4 blue marlins caught out of 8 hooked.

Hello to all from the sunny islands of Cape Verde.
We are back on the fishing grounds. We had some engine trouble with the Amelia but it is solved, and she will be sailing again during this week.

Our guests at the time Per and Finn from Denmark, did get their fishing though. With kind help from Ferdi, we send the two Danish boys out on Bebiche with our Martin as mate. That paid off well. During the three days on Bebiche, they had 14 bites and caught 6. The first day they had 3 bites and landed (wired) 2 blue marlins on 550 lbs and 750 lbs. The second day they had 4 bites and landed one on 250 lbs. The third day they had 7 bites and landed 4, best fish estimated at 400 lbs.

The last two days we were again helped by Dieter, who let us use the Andromeda. During these two days we had 5 bites and landed them all – 100%. 750 lbs and 400 lbs caught on BTK from Bonze lures. 550 lbs and 300 lbs caught on Scorpion from Bonze lures. The last fish, a 650 lbs blue, took a Andromeda Roddy Hays lure. This is indeed great fishing! We fished out of Sao Nicolaus islands in flat water and sunshine.

Available days in 2008:
We have some days at the end of May and start of June. Contact Zak for info. We also have some available days in week 38 and 39.

Available days in 2009:

Welcome to 2008 reports from one of the best spots in the world for blue marlin. We started our first week fishing with our friends from Sweden, but luck didn’t come our way. On the first day we pulled the hooks on a double header, out of Sao Nicolau island. One fish about 500 lbs, and the other one about 250 lbs. Not so good, 0 for 2 on blues. Next day nothing; third day still northing; fourth day 1 for 1; a 300 lbs blue marlin and a Wahoo. The fifth day another zero, but on the last day out of Sao Pedro, one about 350 lbs got hooked. Very nice fish.

The conditions are good, lots of bait, wind around 10 kn. I think this next week will be better.
All the best to everyone, and good fishing.

12.02.08

The first venture of the year. On a unplaned session two marlins were hooked. They were estimated to 250 lbs and 600 lbs, but both were lost yards from the boat. Still, big fish that early in the season, is a good sign. We have great hopes for the season starting 1. march.

Announcement

The Billfish Foundation (TBF) has informed us that Zak is the

"Top Release Captain for Blue Marlin in the Atlantic Ocean."

06.01.08

Happy New Year to all
2007 was a great first season for the Amelia in the Cape Verde islands. We finished the season with 157 blue marlins caught. Amelia and its crew did an excellent work, and all clients went back from our island with a blue marlin on his record.

Nothing is guaranteed, but Cape Verde is definitely the spot to get your first blue marlin.

Amelia has caught more fish than any other boat in same days fishing, and so has the best results, compared to days at sea among the boats in Mindelo.

We are the only boat prepared to do bait and switch. Our crew Martin Bates and Xi manage the deck, and show you the most interesting way to catch a marlin.

If you like to try fly fishing, bring your fly rod, and I’m sure you are going to hook a few fish in these waters.

Bookings 2008

We still have the last week of august, and three weeks in September available; be sure to get the days; book now!

Bookings 2009

If you like to fish 2009, please don’t wait for the end of 2008 to book. May and June are full for 2009. Get the best months now. March to august are some of the best months. September to the beginning of October is still a good time to come. The bigger fish is plenty and a good shot for yellow fin tuna, and probably the best amberjack fishing in the world. Any questions please email zak.conde@marlincapeverde.com.

I wish you all good fishing in 2008 on the Cape Verde’s.

Best regards
Captain Zak Conde
