15.11.10

We just finished four days with our friends from Russia. The fishing was slow for us, four bites from yellow fin tuna, landed two a 55 kg and a 65 kg. One of the other boats killed a 700 lbs blue marlin and a spearfish. The weather is fantastic and the yellow fin tunas are in good numbers around Santo Antao island. There is also good fishing for amberjacks. Miguel landed a 42kg and a 20kg, in Santo Antao.
We still have available days in April and March next year, so book now.

Best regards to all

Hello from the flat waters of the Cape Verde islands.
Yes, after one week of rain Sao Vicente Island almost look like the Azores (green).
And as I was waiting for and expecting, the blue marlin is back at the islands. Last few days the Bebiche, the 31 Bertram, caught in four days two blues and a sail fish, and lost one. Miguel from another local boat caught one yesterday. Bebiche is in Sao Antao, so I will have more news when he is coming back. Very few yellow fins, but the skippers are around, so the blue marlin will stay also.

Marty is in first place so far to win the release certificate for The Billfish Foundation, - fingers crossed.
All around the world, Cape Verde is the best place from far. Azores the top boat has 17 blues, Madeira? I don’t know but I think the top boat did release more then 15 blues, and in the Canaries not more then 35 blues for the top boat.

S. Thomas , Bermuda and other places in the west did do better, so again the Cape Verde islands is the number one spot in the world for blue marlin. Think before you chose a place to go fishing, what you want? A good hotel? Good food? Good fishing? If that is what you are looking for, Cape Verde have all that. Is it a good hotel 3 to 4 stars for reasonable prices and with two good restaurants? The best we have compared to the rest of the world, is the great blue marlin fishing, so think and chose the Cape Verde.

Good fishing.

This weekend I took Simon and our friend Joseph from Italy out to Raso bank for some jigging. On the way we trolled with small lures in the shallow waters, and we raised a small white marlin that did not hook up.

The conditions were not the best, but the results was good for two hours. We landed three amberjacks, five nice groupies, two barracudas and other small species. Simon was the champion with three amberjacks, the biggest one around 45lbs. We spent the night in Raso and got back on the next morning. We mark the new spots for future trips.

Do you like jigging? Cape Verde is a great place to do it. Special rates, and a possibility to do some shark fishing and jigging. If you are two our three persons we give accommodation for a real ship price.
Send us an email for further info.
Good fishing.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
The weather is fantastic, but the fishing is slow at the moment. Like I wrote a couple weeks ago, about Heikos fish in Sao Nicolau, the size of that fish was 1024lbs. Another grander from Cape Verde!
Yesterday, Bebiche with captain Ferdy caught a 750 lbs blue, a sail fish, yellow fin tuna, a dorado and a wahoo. His is fishing out of Sao Nicolau island. Lots of skipjack tunas at the moment.
I real believe the fishing will be very good in October. If you like to fish in November for tuna, marlin or jigging, send a email a great deal.
Best regards to all.

31.08.10

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
Bebiche, one of the local boats, yesterday lost a 900 pounds at Sao Nicolau island after 20 minutes. They came up on the drag and broke the line. The local boats catching lots of yellow fins at the moment, the fish are deep down. They fish with live bait down deep so Bebiche trolled around with no results. Heiko, the German guy who owns the Black Marlin, landed another fish close to 1000 lbs, the mates from Bebiche told me the fish is very close to 1000. I will give more info about this capture soon. Berno and Simon, are going today to the northern bank, to spend the night, they will troll and do some jigging. The seas are flat, no wind and very hot. We still have a few days left so book now.

Best regards

Hello to all from the sunshine hot islands of the Cape Verde.
Our season is not finished. We will have a couple more days to fish until the end of the year.
So far our score this season for Amelia is 137 blue marlins. So far the best score of the fleet.
We did a good season again, but some of the others boats from the fleet did also very good.
For next year we start our bookings, and so far we still have days in March, April, July and August.
Anyone interest in fishing next year, don’t hesitate to contact me soon for the best time. Our prices will be the same, 1000 euros from April to end of July and 850 for February, March and August.

Hello to all.
There are Blue marlins on the north side of Mindelo. Simon, on the Happy Hooker caught a 750 and a sailfish yesterday on the north of Mindelo. Today they caught a small one. A few days ago a yellow fin tuna was caught, and one of the other boats fish in Sao Nicolau had 7 bites in five days and just landed one. As you can see the blue marlin is around, but no guest to go out there, on the real flat seas with no wind.
What I can say, is very sad to be at the marina on probably one of the best months for blue marlin fishing (August and September). Waiting for you guys to have fun here at the Cape Verde.

Best regards

Hello to all.
This is the last report for a while, no more guests in the near future (not the best time - no guest). The last two days with Sergey went the way we wanted. The currents changed and the fish also. Two days ago we caught a 275lbs on the RPP and a tiger shark around 800 lbs.
Yesterday was our last day, and we pulled the hooks on a 450, and caught a 60lbs sail fish.
At the end of this 8 days fishing we had more then 40 bites from blues, and just landed 15.
Well, 15 is better then less, but our hook up was not the best, so we hope to improve this.
Again the Amelia was the top boat in the harbor. We plan to fish another couple days before the end of September. Like to fish? I give you good prices.
The yellow fin started to show up. I talked to some local fishermen, and they say they are around, but not eating.

Best regards

Hi to all from the best place in the world for fishing blue marlin.
What a day! There are only a few hairs left in my beautiful head after today’s fishing. Sao Nicolau is without question the best place for blue marlin fishing these days. Today: 4 fish caught out of 15 bites! Yes 15 bites, but no luck on our hook ups. Landed a 550lbs, 450lbs, 350 and a 300. We had 5 our 6 fish over 500lbs, two for sure bigger than 650lbs. Best lures were Trojan from Bonze lures and the Inki from Roddy Hayes lures. Started with bait and switch on the shorts and lures on the longs; pulled the hooks three times on bait and switch, then we changed to 4 lures and nothing. The bad luck stuck with us, but on the end of the day we had caught the 4; better then nothing.

I been through this spectacular average before, and I know it will change soon. I do not know when, but is better change fast because we just have three more days fishing. No more guests, what a shame, lots of fish and no one to go fish. Well don’t think too much about it. There are here right now! Come and enjoy the best blue marlin fishing in the world. If you just need to catch that big blue, this is the time.

Good fishing to all my friends in the Azores, canaries and of course to Madeira Island.

Hello to all again and I say again because we are still fishing.
And the fishing is really fantastic. There is no other place in the world right now with the same quality fishing. Sergey, our guest from Russia will comply with this. 3½ days fishing; 22 bites, five more raised and 9 fish caught. Yesterday, 2 for 7 and raised one more. Sizes from 300 to 250lbs. Fish were caught on Bonze lures and Abaco Prowler. Today was a fantastic day; 5 for 10, and raised one more that did bite. We are fishing from Sao Nikolaou Island. Today: 750, a 550/600, 450, 400 and a 200lbs. Fish was caught on the Abaco Prowler, Bonze lures and one on the Wide Range. We lost one around 800plus and raised one more around 500lbs that did bite. That is the quality of the fishing at the moment. As you can see, there is nothing like this around the world.
For all with slack lines, come and fish with us.

Hello to all from the flat waters of the Cape Verde.
At the moment the weather is fantastic, blue marlin are around, tunas wahoos and dorados as well.
Yesterday we started our nine days fishing with our good friend Sergey. I decided to move to Sao Nikolaou Island and that was the right decision. Yesterday we arrived on the Raso bank. Here we caught a yellow fin around 60lbs and a smaller one. We moved to the south bank, one pass one blue around 300lbs on the Wide Range. Today we went back to the south bank, and what a surprise, 1000 of birds bait and flat waters. We finished the day by 3 and the score was one for five, and raised one more that did switch. 250 on the RPP, and pulled the hooks on another four. We just lost a really big one just outside the harbour; a solid 900lbs on the Grand Candy from Bart. The fish bite on the right short line, and what a spectacular fight. She jumped all over the place until the hooks came out not far from the boat. Tonight we go shark fishing, and hope to get a big tiger. Tomorrow we go back to the bank for another session of blue marlin fishing on the best place.
Best regards and slack lines.

Hi from Sao Vicente island.
Last day fishing for Andrey and Nicholas. No luck this year, Andrey caught 2 blues out of 5 strikes, nothing big, no lock on sizes also. One spearfish and lost two others. Weather now is fantastic and Sergey, our next guest and regular client, is back for nine days fishing. We will move to Sao Nicolau for a couple days, marlin fishing and sharks is in the plans. We still have the last two weeks of July for almost for free, so don’t hesitate to contact me.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
First of all we have some great news, about our friend Berno on the Happy Hooker. They won the World Cup 2010 in a fantastic way, with a solid 1089lbs blue marlin. Well done.

Jaap finished his trip with 10 blues out of 20 bites, one yellow fin of 200lbs and a spearfish.
Thanks Jaap. Andrey from Russia is our guest at the moment. No luck yesterday, pulled the hooks on a small one, raised one around 400lbs, it did bite and, pulled the hooks on a very nice spearfish. Today, finally we caught a 300lbs on bait and switch. The weather is fantastic, and I hope to get a big one soon.

We have free days until the end of September, so book now. I will give you very special rates.
Best regards to all and good fishing.

Hello to all.
The weather calmed down after a couple days with strong winds. This is the report of the last three days. In Sao Nicolau we received a nice call from Ferdy, the owner of Bebiche. What good news! They have a estimated 1000 lbs on the boat, caught a 200lbs, lost a 600lbs, and broke the leader under the boat on a fish they estimated at 1200 lbs. No scales in Sao Nicolau to weigh the fish but the measurements are: 20 inch on the tail and 1.90 cm around the girth.
Maybe even a 1000?  In any case, if not it was a nice one and they really believed the other one was way bigger.

We moved up there two days ago after these news, and on the same day were we got there, we caught one out of tree bites, but no big ones. Yesterday we caught a spearfish in the morning on the south bank, and then we moved to Raso bank where we caught a 300 and pulled the hooks on a 350-400lbs. Then it was time to get home to Mindelo, and we another lost fish just on the north of the island. Matthias with The Smoker went 1 for 4 in Sao Nicolau, raised one more and Bebiche again landed a 700lbs.

We will enter the match http://www.bluemarlinworldcup.com. Fingers crossed for the result.

We will fish until the end of September. We have available days. Good prices if you like to come down. Just email me.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
This is the report from the last three days fishing. The weather; lots of bad wind and green water on the south, so only one fish raised and it did bite. The weather will calm down in the next days. Jaap, had so far had a good time, but I hope that the fishing will improve in the next days. Andrey, from Russia will be here soon for the world cup. Fingers crossed, maybe my luck come back on the right day, the 4th july.
And some good news, the cabo is working again.

Hello to all,
Yesterday was another good day. Every day you go out there and land a blue is a good day.
A nice solid 500lbs caught on the Grander, a lure made by Stephan Kreupl from Germany.
We had another fish playing with our teasers that did bite on the lures. Good fishing on the north of Sao Vicente, all boats caught fish. Come and fish with us.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello from the sunny Cape Verde.
Like I hoped for in the last info, the fish started biting, and they did yesterday. We got fish on the north of Sao Vicente, just three miles out.  The score was: a nice 400lbs and a 200lbs blue marlin out of three strikes, and a nice 220lbs yellow fin tuna. Simon on the Happy Hooker had a nice day also. The moon is up, and this year the full moon been working here.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello to All
The last three days of fishing, were not good at all. Three days ago we landed a 300lbs on the RPP, and raised two more. Two days ago we raised one that did bite, and yesterday also one that did bite. Is it the moon? We hope so and hope they start biting again soon.

We are open for booking for the rest of the year except September. Email me for special rates for the rest of the year starting October. We hope for big blues in October, November, and a good shot of yellow fin tunas - if they come this year. There are many around, but small ones from 50 to 80 lbs.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello from the Cape Verde.
Yesterday was our second day with Jaap, and we caught 2 out of three bites.
A 250 lbs on the RPP, and a 175 on the Moyes, a small lure made by a friend in Florida.
The weather is not so good, wind shop seas. Today we lost two fish a 300lbs and a 250.
One of the other boats, pulled the hooks on four at Sao Nicolau island. Just three boats are fishing at the moment. We have small yellow fins around. Maybe the big girls are on their way.
We are open for bookings next year, so its time to book.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello to All from the Cape Verde’s.

Here is my latest report. Hassan and is kids finished six days fishing. Lots of action, but no luck setting the hooks. But they did land some blue marlins. At the end day we had 17 bites but just caught three. We lost one around 850 just 20 meters from the boat. Thanks to Hassan and the boys for fishing with us.

My good friend from Slovenia, Alljosa and is friend finished their 5 days fishing with 8 fish caught. The biggest fish was a solid 650lbs on the RPP from Bart Miller. The other ones were around 250 to 300lbs. Best lures were RPP from Bart and the Abaco Prowler. We had 20 bites in these five days. So the fishing is still good.

Today was the first day for Jaap Tuiit. We got one small on the RPP, 225lbs, in Sao Pedro bank. Tomorrow will move to Sao Nicolau island for three days, to try our luck there.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello again from the Cape Verde’s.
This is my report of the last five days fishing. Mido and his father, and a friend, had five days fishing and caught fish. The last days the score was 1 for 2. Like on the first day, we lost a nice 400 plus just metes from the boat.

The last four days I have fished with Hassan and kids from Egypt. First day, nada - nothing, second day, 1 for 8 on the north. Lots of action, but no luck. Yesterday 2 for 2 and today we lost a white marlin and a small blue at Saint Antao. Two days to go, and I hope to get one fish a day by the end of his six days fishing. Bebiche, one of the local boats, landed a 850 two days ago.

We went to Santo Anto because of the weather. Now we are in Sao Vicente ready to fish the north. Today we had 8 bites and landed 3. Fising is hot in the north, just 20 minutes from the harbour.

Best regards to all & Good fishing

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands.
We are fishing and the results are not bad at all. Captain Marty Bates just left yesterday after another good season. Marty finished with fantastic numbers: 101 fish caught out of 186 bites in 74 days of fishing!

A few days ago I rented Happy Fishing, owned by Jimmy Sola from Italy. The Cabo is still down with engine trouble, so this was my only way to service Rob and Peter from Holland.
We fished five days and the results were very good. We caught a 900 lbs on the Grand Candy from Bart and two other fish around 450, and another one around 400 lbs. The rest was smaller fish. At the end of the five days they had landed seven fish.

Gary carter was again with us, looking for the record for 12 pound line, but no luck.
We fished 15 days, had 30 bites, raised another few did switch and caught 15, all on 30 pound line. Thanks to Rob, Peter and Gary for fishing with us. Really hope to see you guys again in the Cape Verde.

The fishing this year has been a little difficult, with one good week and the next not so good.
At the moment Amelia have 111 blues caught on this season out of 198 bites. I add another six blues caught in February when I fish 4 days.

The last two days we been fishing with Mido, his father and his friend Hassan. The first day we went to Sao Nicolau and the result was zero, so we decided to get back to Mindelo yesterday, and on the way we lost one east of Sao Vicente. Today we went to the north of Sao Vicente and this was the right decision. First we had a nice 550 lbs+, and the fish gave us a nice fight, but we win just two meters from the leader. After that, a double header a 300 and a 250 lbs. One on the Super Shuger, and the other one on the Medium Plunger. The third fish was a 375 lbs caught on the RPP and the last one on the wide range. We pulled the hooks on another two and raised one more.

Total of 77 days fishing with 111 caught out of 198 bites. We started booking for next year, so don’t hesitate to contact me for the best time, and the good deals I have for next year.

Best regard to all and good fishing for my friends in Canaries, Madeira and the Azores where I hope to be with the Cabo to fish a few days with Thomas and friends in September. Next year we will start our season in February, where the fishing this year was fantastic and our season will end on the last day of August, to start up again after the middle of October to get the big “mamas”. Don’t forget last year; Haico a german guy landed a 800 lbs plus in one day, after that a 940 and finally a 1040 in the same week, and all fish was on the scale. I don’t agree with killing all that fish for nothing, but that was the proof to everyone that the big fish is late in the year. Again thanks to all who has been fishing this year with us. Thanks to Marty for another good season. Now for my self, Steve Hall and Xi, the dream time is action and we hope to reach 150 blues this season. Fingers crossed.

Best regards to all
Good fishing

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

15th: Started fishing with Gary Carter. Bait and switch towing four teasers. Fishing 12 pound and 30 pound test. Started of with a triple header. Fist two fish of 300-350 pounds came into the gear biting at the short teasers. Then a fish better than 600 pounds ate the left rigger teaser so we pitched the 12 pound test for the big fish, but before we could get the bait to the 600+ pound blue marlin a 300 pound blue marlin ate the bait on 12 pound. Shortly after we hooked up we pulled the hooks. Later on the same day we raised another three, pulled the hooks on two of them on the pitch bait.

16th: windy conditions. Raised one that didn't switch.

17th: also windy conditions, zero for one and raised another one that didn't bite any teasers, just came into the gear.

18th: no fishing.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

We started fishing with Peter Gurd and Harry from the UK on the 8th, and went 2 for 7. Peter caught a 600lb blue marlin on the Legend lure Basilisk and Harry caught a 350 on a Pakula. The other bites we had that day, were from small pack attacks from the rats.

The 9th we went 3 from 3 and all fish ate Joe Yee Medium Plunger.

The 10th1 from 3. The fish took RPP from Bart and we missed two on the pitch bait.  The fish came to Large cup faced Iduna from Legend Lures.

The 11th 1 from 3 caught on a Bonze Hercules. 300 pounds and pulled the hooks on the Bonze Trojan. We managed to catch a 6 pound skipjack and we live baited for 1hour. We put the live bait 100 feet down on the down rigger. Got the bite and we just missed out on the release. The fish of 300 lbs spat the bait out before we touched the leader.

The 12th wind was strong today, but 1 for 1 on the Bart Kona Jet. 300 pounds and we saw another 2 fish tailing down sea and caught a 30 lbs Wahoo.

Captain Marty Bates

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

The last 2 days with Don Wheeler and Chris Flower from the UK were great. Don pitch baited his first blue marlin, and did a great job. Also Chris Flower has been doing great on pitching to his fish as well. Today we had 5 for 5, and another one to the teaser. Two fish were caught on a Pakula Sproket and on the Stinger with Hayes hooks 10os. Good hook up. 300 and 400 lbs. The fish Don caught was 550 lbs on the pitch bait. It came in hard and ate the Abao Prowler from Bart, then switched. Good job Don. Chris was in good form and had some hard going away bites, and hooked every fish he pitched to. They caught 17 fish in 6 days.

Fishing good going guys! So far we have caught 67 fish in 54 days fishing. The fishing is getting better every day.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde.
The last 15 days, the sea has so flat as it can be. Two days ago we finished 5 days fishing with some guest from the US. The results for the Andromeda, was not the best; We had 12 bites on lures and teasers, and we raised two more. In the end we landed just two fish, a 250 and a 300 lbs. One caught on bait and switch, and one on my best lure, the RPP from Bart Lures.
The wind came back today and there were just two boats fishing; The Amelia landed two out of three bites. We hope they will be biting the next days. The bait fish is also back around the Cape Verde so the good conditions are there.
We still have a few days available in July for a very special price. I will do a very special rate for the last 15 days of July, so don’t miss this.
The bookings for next year are open from now on, so if you like to fish with us next year, book soon for the best months.

Best regards to all
Good fishing

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

On the 20th Richard from Mauritius were back fishing again in Cape Verde, and today we caught a 500 pounder on a pitch bait, and Richard did a great job on the stand up 50lb outfit to catch his fish. Then later on the afternoon he pitched to another blue marlin which came on the Cupfaced Idunda from Legend Lures. A nice switch and we had some great leader action around the boat to release a 300lb blue on 50 also. Later on that day we pulled the hooks on another 500 which ate the RPP from Bart Miller Lures.
On the 21th we pulled the hooks on Marlin Candy. The 22nd two for two on the Marlin Candy; a 450 and 300, and we missed a pitch bait to a 300 which came to our Bart Miller Abaco Prowler teaser

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

On the 8th we had 2 for 4 bites. A 300 lb blue was caught on the Naga from Roddy Hayes and another 300 on the Medusa from Makiara pulling lures from Justin Roper. The 9th 0 for 3 bites.  All the fish ate was the Medusa. Bad hook up and all the fish were under 300. 10th “nada”. 11th 1 for 3 bites. We got a 300 lb blue marlin on the Naga, and strafed a good fish; maybe better than 500. That fish ate a 19 by Justin Roper. 12th no fishing. 13th 1 for 1 on the Wide Range.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde
Thanks to Dieter and Ulix, the owners of the Andromeda, for letting me use the boat for a few days. We fished four days with our friends from Italy, and we had good results. First day we caught 2 blues, and the next day one, and the third day four blues. We had 12 bites and caught seven.
I had a little accident the other day on my bike, but hope to be in good shape next Thursday to start fishing with our friends from US; Ted Wills and the boys.
Fishing is fantastic around the Sao Nicolau islands. We had a big American boat here. They came from Sao Nicolau were they fished 2 days and the results was 22 bites and 11 caught. Today one of the local boats caught 5 out of 11 bites.
Best regards and good fishing to all.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

On the 5th we caught 6 mahi mahi (dolphin-fish), and pulled the hooks on a blue which had a go at the Naga. On the 6th we pulled the hooks on a small blue on the Naga. The 7th we finally caught a nice blue marlin of 700 pounds. This biggie came up on the Bart Miller Abaco Prowler, and switched to our pitch bait. It gave a good fight and good jumps on the leader around the boat. The boys from the UK Steve and Colin and Terry who fished here last year, had a good day and also we let go a white marlin that ate the Naga from Legend Lures.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

Fishing has been slow the last 4 days. Our guests are three boys from Manchester city, Fred, Lee and Lenny. Great guys, but no luck. On the 1st April we pulled the hooks on a 500pound blue which ate the Naga from legend Lures, and we pitched to a 300lber which came up on the Abaco Prowler teaser, but shortly after we  pulled the hook. Oh well this is fishing, and the last three days no marlin but a lot of green water and high winds.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

On the 30th we fished with Thomas and his farther, and his brother. We fished just one day and had 3 bites in the east. Pulled the hook on a 350 pound blue on a pitch bait. After a few minutes, the fish came up on a Abaco Prowler. Then later that day, we got a sneak attack from a blue marlin on my short right teaser the Iduna from Legend Lures. Then the fish came on our shotgun the Naga, also a lure from Roddy Hayes. After a good fight we released a 650 pounds blue, that did some nice jumps around the boat on the leader. Then we had a 250 lbs  come into our spread, and we got a pitch bait to it, but Thomas got the Sancocho and the fish dropped back to the Naga on the shotgun, and we hooked up for a short time but then pulled the hook.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

On the 27th we caught an 400lbs blue marlin on the new Roddy Hayes lure The NAGA, and today we pulled the hooks on two pitched baited fish! Both fish were raised on the cup faced Iduna from Legend Lures.

On the 28th we had 0 for 1 on the pitch bait. Fishing is a little slow, but still some fish around. The local fleet is still catching.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

Here is our 4 day fishing report fishing with the three Swedish guys. The first day 23rd Zak took them out, on Amelia and gave me and Steve the day off. They pulled the hooks on an 400 lbs which ate a Pakula Rat.

24th we raised one small fish in the south on the Legend lures Merlin but it didn’t bite.
25th was better; 2 for 4 bites and a couple of Wahoo bites also. We were fishing back in the north. The two fish we caught were in the 300 to 350 pound range, and they ate the Bart Kona Jet and the Super Chugger by Moldcraft.

Today the 26th Zak came along on Amelia, and we fished the north again. We pulled the hooks on a 400lbs in the morning, then we came tight on a 600 which Zak leadered. A good fish and the same time we got the 600, we had another 400 among the lures but it didn’t bite. Also we saw two tailing fish that also didn’t bite. T 600 lbs was caught on Super Chugger

Hello from the Cape Verde.
We fished a few days. Best day with 5 out of 9 bites. In all we caught 8 blues in five days out of more then 20 bites. The best lure for the Beast’N is the RPP from Bart Miller and the Wide Range from Molcraft.

The last two days the wind picked up, and Amelia had to fish on the south with poor results.
Tomorrow conditions should be better. The wind will calm, so we hope to get some good results.

We still have ten days left in April and one week in June, so send an e-mail, and I can give a very good price for some of these days.

Best regards to All

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,

19th: We fished north of the island again. Henrik started with a white marlin of 70lbs or so on a Bart Prowler, then Mikael got a 350lb on Bart Marlin Candy. The blues were biting and after a session of pulled hooks on a few marlins, we came tight on a 600 pound blue on the Merlin from Legend Lures. A great scape and good jumps on the leader. After a short brake, we hooked into a nice 500 pound blue, foul hooked in the peck and a good scrape for Henrik. the fish took a Striper Candy from Bart. That day we ended with 3 blues from 8 bites, and 1 for 1 on the old whitey.

20th: We had our last day with the three Swedes, and fished the south due to rough conditions in the north, and a bit of a hang over (not the crew) We got nada in the south, but over all the days were good. We fished 4 and a half days and caught 9 blues from 17 bites. So far the season has  been good with ten days fished. 17 released and 26 bites with 5 fish in the 600s and 3 fish in the 500s and the rest around 300 or better. Not bad for ten days fishing.

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,
Here is my report from the last 3 days. We had 3 Swedes fishing on Amelia; Mikael Nilsson from Naturkompaniet, Henrik Sandahl  from Söder Sportfiske and Peter "The Hoff" Tallberg from Berras Testebo River.

1st day: 1 for 2 bites and Henrik caught his first blue marlin of 250 lbs on the Bonze Scorpion.
We had another bite but it didn’t stick on the Super Chugger, and we raised one more that didn’t bite.

2nd day: We fished in the east in good water with bait but nothing.

3rd day: We fished the north side, and Mikael released a 650 on the Andromeda from Legend Lures. Peter "The Hoff" shortly after released  a 450 on a pitch bait. The fish came up on for a Abaco Prowler by Bart, then swilled down our ballyhoo.  This fish was Peter’s biggest fish on stand up 50lb outfit and the rod was sweet! A custom rod from NZ, "reel rods" stand up 50 lb test bent butt. Then about 1 hour later, we hooked up on a triple header and we got them all. So Ii was stoked to say the least; my first triple as a captain. Every one onboard did a great job. The 3 fish ate Bart Miller St Thomas Prowler and Striper Candy, and the third one was on the Cleopatra by Legend Lures. Al three fish were from 250 to 350 lbs so, so far all our guests had there personal best in regards to blue marlin fishing in cape verde. But we did miss two bites, and the total were 5 for 7.

Today was the last day of the first charter. We caught two blue marlin of 300 lbs each. The fish were caught on "Merlin" and "Enki" lures  from Roddy Hays. Yesterday we pulled the hooks on a marlin. Total for  the charter is 8 for 9 blue marlin of which three were very nice fish of about 600 lbs in five days of fishing. A good start!

Hi from the Cape Verde’s,
We started our season with two Swedish guys Peter and Ulf, and on the first 2 days Peter caught 2 blue marlins.  The first on a Mold Craft super Chugger. the fish was 600lbs, The second fish, also a nice blue, was better than 600lbs, was caught on a Andromeda from Legend Lures. On the third day we had a great day. We caught 4 blue marlins from 5 bites; first a 600 lbs  on Andromeda,  then a 550 lb on RPP from Bart Miller, a 500 lbs on the Wide Range and finally a 350 lbs on Super Chugger. So it has been a great start to the 2010 season for us on Amelia with 3 days of fishing with fish in good size and numbers.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands
Marty, Steve and Amandio on the Amelia, started fishing three days ago with our guests from Sweden. The first day fishing they caught a 550 lbs blue marlin, one for one, second day one for one, a 650lbs, and today Marty called with another fresh report. Just this morning they caught two 600 lbs and a 300 lbs, just outside of the airport. As you can see, the fishing is red hot with a good size fish. We still have 10 days available in June and one week in July, so don’t wait and can fish with us.

Hello to All from Cape Verde islands.
The weather right now is unusual for this time of the year. There is almost no wind and it is very sunny.

A friend, Max from Austria, was on his way to Sal Island aboard his catamaran. They love to fish, so they have a couple lures out there. Between Sao Nicolau and Sal, they landed a 238 kilo blue marlin. Thomas on the Itoma, the 71 feet catamaran rigged for windsurfing and diving, have not been lucky with the wind so far, so they trolled for one hour on the south, and they landed a 215 kilo blue marlin.

There are plenty with fish all over in the waters around Cape Verde. A good friend Zeca, a local fisherman who owns a few commercial boats, just told me that they are caching many yellow fins in Sal, Boavista and Maio. They say it’s like 10 15 years ago. Well, we have a lot of tunas around and room for guests! Its very easy to get here and it will get even easier when TACV (Cabo Verde airline) starts flying directly from Lisbon to Sao Vicente from April. Every Friday you can fly non-stop. I know this will make it a lot easier to get here, and more anglers will therefore find their way out to us and the great marlins. This also means that booking in advance is even more important.

The last two weeks in June and the last week in July are open for booking.

Best regards to all and good fishing.

Hello to All from the Cape Verde’s,
The season has officially started. Amelia and her crew fished for four days, and the result is great. Who says this time of year is too early for Blue Marlin? We had 13 bites, one raised and six fish caught, and all that just 15 minutes out of Mindelo.
First day we fished on the south (Sao Pedro bank) but nothing there, so late that afternoon I moved to the north, and it looked very good there with lots of baitfish.
Next day, we went straight to the north. Here at the end of the day, we caught 2 out of 5 bites, a 400lbs on the RPP from Bart Miller and a 300lbs on the Wide Range. We pulled the hooks on one around 500lbs and two smaller ones.
Yesterday, we had 2 bites. One landed around 300 lbs on the RPP, and we raised one about 500lbs that did bite.
Today, our last day, we had 6 bites and 3 caught: a 300 lbs, a 275 and a 200lbs. Two fish were caught on the Super Chuger and one on the RPP.

As you can see the fishing is fantastic, so come and fish with us. I will have special rates for this month and next one.

Best regards to all and good fishing.

Hello to all from the Cape Verde islands.
At the moment the weather is fantastic. We will start fishing on Saturday with Amelia for four days. We need two days to get Amelia ready. Some clean up and we will be running.

We arrived a week ago from the canaries, with Beast’n, my self and my friend Thomas, owner of Itoma, a catamaran designed for windsurfing and diving. The trip was fantastic, three days with flat sea and one with wind to 15 kt.

We still have some days left in mars and in June. If you looking for the paradise for blue marlin fishing don’t let this days go.

Best regards to all.
